About Mr Cenz

Artist Bio

Mr Cenz has been scribbling on surfaces since 1984—the year he first discovered hip-hop culture and graffiti art. It opened up an entirely new world for him: exciting, rebellious, and free. From that moment, he became completely obsessed. Graffiti quickly evolved into his personal language and mode of self-expression, even leading to a few early brushes with the law. Determined to channel his passion into something constructive, he secured his first commissioned mural at the age of 11.

From there, he continued to refine and experiment with his artistic style throughout college and university. This journey eventually paved the way for a successful career as a professional graffiti artist, with numerous solo exhibitions and high-profile commissions spanning cities from New York to Barcelona and beyond.

Over the years, he has collaborated with major global brands including Amazon, Pepsi and Puma. His work has also earned critical recognition, with The Guardian recently naming him among the most notable street artists in the UK, alongside figures like Banksy. He is best known for his unique and dynamic graffiti style, characterised by intricate patterns, energetic linework, and vibrant colours. Portraiture lies at the heart of much of his work, yet he elevates it by blending elements of realism and surrealism. His portraits often feel alive—imbued with movement and emotion—as though the thoughts and feelings of the subjects are emerging from the canvas to tell a deeper story.

There is a mysterious and cosmic quality to his art, evoking a sense of the otherworldly. Strong musical influences are also evident in the rhythmic, funky flow of his compositions —shapes, forms, and structures that pulse with energy. His work has been described as “surrealist graffiti art for the soul.”
